How To Use The Large Format Printer In Coffman
To use our facilities to produce your large format print you must complete the following steps:
** Note: A Consultant on duty will assist you with all print jobs.
- Create the large format print document:
- Use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Microsoft Power Point.
- Set the size of your document to the size of the printout you desire.
There are three printers to which you might send your print job: * HP Designjet Z6100 This is the most frequently used printer, it can print 41 inches wide (paper is 42 inches wide) * HP Designjet 5500, This is the largest printer, it can print 59 inches wide (paper is 60 inches wide) * Epson Stlyus 9600 Pro, This is the highest resolution printer. To use this printer you need to make an appointment to use it, If you are interested send an email to cmulfp<at>publabs.umn.edu It can print 43 inches wide (paper is 44 inches wide) - The recommended resolution of source images is between 200 and 300 dpi.
- Bring in the original Microsoft Power Point, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop file.
- Ask the consultant behind the desk to help you with your large format print.
- The consultants will use an application named "LFP Processor" which will take care of resizing and rotation.
- You need to pay for your print before you send it to the printer.
- You can pay for your print by using a EFS number (aka budget number), by personal check or by cash on your ucard.
- Receipts are available.
- Consultants will then send your document to the printer using Posterjet program.
- Allow time for ink to dry before cutting.
- We recommend waiting five minutes before you roll up your print out.
- We also recommend you leave your print out face up, unrolled and in a dark place for the first 24 hours after your print has been printed. This is so the print will have time to fully dry and become more resistant to fading.
